3-2-1- POLO!! For those of you who have never played, this is a raw street-hockey style bike game requiring opponents on teams of three players to compete for the first to reach five points or the highest score in a given game. If your foot touches the ground, you tap out mid court before returning to play. This is a "gentleman's sport" (although entirely co-ed), players compete with an understanding of mutual respect; basic rules follow the perameters of bike-bike, body-body, and mallet-mallet contact, with no cross contact between them. For a complete set of rules see the NAH Rule Set provided by North American Hardcourt. Keep in mind however, that the final judgment of any game falls on the referee, a position filled this year by the a surprise guest referee!
This year, as with previous years, the tournament will be 3 v.3, played on full basketball courts with 2-4 ft. plywood walls. Swiss Rounds on Saturday and Double Elimination Sunday. There are two courts and we may begin tournament days using both courts until the number of teams progressively narrows down. There will be a maximum of 22 teams allowed to register, no exceptions. Registration for polo will be 25$ per player, but includes participation in all other activities throughout the week. Registration will open September 15th on a first come, first serve basis and will close once all 22 teams have paid in full.
*Helmets and safety gear are strongly recommended for participants.
We look forward to seeing you slayers!
